Cinicnnati Youth Choir

I am currently serving as the Director of Vivo Programs and the Director of Piccolo Coro for the Cincinnati Youth Choir.

Our current Vivo Programs are Vivo Coro, Vivo Brilliante, and Vivo Bambino.

Vivo Coro is a community based youth choir program that serves children in grades 3-6 in area schools and homeschool communities that do not have a choir for that age group. It is an 8 week program per semester that culminates in a performance alongside all the CYC choirs at the UC College Conservatory. We cover vocal technique, basic rhythm and solfege, and music reading skills. If you wish to have a VIvo Coro choir in your school or homeschool co-op, please reach out to me at msurman@cincinnatichoir.org.

Vivo Brilliante serves communities of children and adults in the special needs community. We have collaborated with and have had choir programs for the Downs Syndrome Association of Greater CIncinnati, and am currently looking for other organizations to work with. If you are interested in having a choir class for your community, please reach out to me at msurman@cincinnatichoir.org.

Vivo Bambino is the branch of our Vivo programs that addresses the needs of children in preschool or younger age groups. I would love to partner with area preschools and child care centers to provide classes and programs for those groups. In the past I have worked with Baldwin Music to offer classes and camps for the youngest of singers!

Piccolo Coro is the youngest resident choir that rehearses weekly at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. Serving grades 1-4, we meet every Tuesday evening to have an invigorating rehearsal filled with fun and joyful music literacy. Piccolo singers perform in several concerts throughout the year alongside all the other CYC resident choirs.
