Class Schedule and Pricing

Group Piano Class

Fall 2023 Piano Class Descriptions: 

Piano 1 (elementary):

This class is for younger beginners (elementary age).  We cover approximately the first half of "Play and Play", as well as use the Piano Safari series of piano books.  Depending on the ages of children in the class, I use either Piano Safari Friends or Piano Safari Level 1.  We also use my book, The Joyful Grammar of Music, to hone musical literacy skills.    The class meets weekly for an hour August- December, and again January-May.  A recital is offered at the end of each semester, during which students are encouraged to play a solo if they wish.  Tuition is charged according to how many sessions are in the month.  $20 per week.  We meet intermittently over the summer as families are able with a less structured tuition.
Required books:  Play and Play, PIano Safari, and The Joyful Grammar of Music Student Guide.
Times Offered:  Thursdays 12-1 and 1-2 PM (homeschool) or as needed 

Piano 2 (elementary):

This class is for younger beginners (elementary age) who have taken piano 1, or have had at least 6 months of private lessons and know basic staff reading.  We cover approximately the 2nd half of "Play and Play", as well as use the Piano Safari series of piano books.  Depending on the ages of children in the class, I use either Piano Safari Friends or Piano Safari Level 1.  We also use my book, The Joyful Grammar of Music, to hone musical literacy skills.    The class meets weekly for an hour August- December, and again January-May.  A recital is offered at the end of each semester, during which students are encouraged to play a solo if they wish.  Tuition is charged according to how many sessions are in the month.  $20 per week.  We meet intermittently over the summer as families are able with a less structured tuition.

Piano 3 (elementary and adolescent):

This class is for younger beginners (elementary age) who have taken piano 2,  or have completed a primer level book.  We will be using pieces from the Piano Safari series of books and Faber Piano Adventures Level One, as well as working on individual solo repertoire.   The students will also finish my book, The Joyful Grammar of Music, to hone musical literacy skills.  Students will continue to learn American folk songs as a supplement to other piano pieces.   The class meets weekly for an hour August- December, and again January-May.  A recital is offered at the end of each semester, during which students are encouraged to play a solo if they wish.  Tuition is charged according to how many sessions are in the month.  $20 per week.  We meet intermittently over the summer as families are able with a less structured tuition.

Piano 1 (Teens): Class forming Now

This class is for pre-teen and teen beginners (approx. grades 6-12 depending on the child).  We use a variety of resources, with the core of instruction coming from Piano Safari Level One for the Older Beginner.  We also sing and play a Psalm each semester from Cantica Sanctorum by David Erb.  Students are taught how to play chords and read lead sheets from various sources as they are interested.  We comtinue to practice solfege and sightreading weekly, as well as learn music theory.  The class meets weekly for an hour August- December, and again January-May.  A recital is offered at the end of each semester, during which students are encouraged to play a solo if they wish.  Tuition is charged according to how many sessions are in the month.  $20 per week.  We meet intermittently over the summer as families are able with a less structured tuition

Piano 2 (Teens):

Other classes will be offered and created as needed.   I generally add courses in the fall semester.  

Private Lessons*

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (times determined by families and instructor)

*Singing lessons are reserved for students currently enrolled in either piano lessons or a piano class 

Description:
Individual/ private lessons feature one-on-one instruction from the instructor. They are usually given at her home studio in Delhi Township. Online lessons are also offered. Included in a 30 minute lesson is study in note reading, rote performance, improvisation, rhythm, and theory. In a 45 minute lesson, more advanced repertoire can be studied, as well as scales, chords, and other topics. Two recitals a year are included. Students may begin taking lessons anytime during the semester as long as the time slot is available.

Group Class Pricing

Hour long group classes are $20 per week.  Tuition is paid monthly at the first class of the month, according to how many classes are offered in the month.

Private Lesson Pricing:

30 minute lesson- $25
45 minute lesson- $35
​60 minute lesson- $50
Payment expected first lesson of each month.

Performance Opportunities

There are  two recital opportunities a year for students of Gloria Music Studio. One occurs at the end of the fall semester, which usually features Christmas music and classic repertoire. The other takes place at the end of the spring semester. These performances are a fun time for students to meet one another and showcase their accomplishments. Students are strongly encouraged to participate, although it is not required.
