This class will meet once weekly for 50 minutes.
The main focus of this class is primary music concepts and musical literacy based on the methods of Zoltán Kodály, taught from a Classical, Christian perspective by a Level 2 Kodály- certified homeschooling mother/ teacher. The Joyful Grammar of Music Primary by Melissa Surman will be used to teach concepts, along with several other resources. The purpose of the class is to aim for beauty and joy, while teaching music through the folk songs of America and masterworks of great composers.
Required text: The Joyful Grammar of Music Student Workbook (purchased from instructor)

This class will meet once weekly for 50 minutes.
The main focus of this course designed for older grammar age students is a more accelerated tour of primary music concepts, introduction of intermediate concepts, and overall musical literacy based on the methods of Zoltán Kodály. This beautiful and joyful approach to music education includes solfege instruction and singing. Concepts will be extracted in an engaging way, using only the finest songs of our heritage. More complex songs will be taught, as well as folk dances.
There are no required texts for this course.

Individual/ private lessons feature one-on-one instruction from the instructor. They are usually given at her home studio in Delhi Township. Included in a 30 minute lesson is study in note reading, rote performance, improvisation, rhythm, and theory. In a 45 minute lesson, more advanced repertoire can be studied, as well as scales, chords, and other topics. Two recitals a year are included. Students may begin taking lessons anytime during the semester as long as the time slot is available.
30 minute lesson- $20
45 minute lesson- $30
60 minute lesson- $40

Performance Opportunities
Spring Recital 2021
There are two recital opportunities a year for students of Gloria Music Studio. One occurs at the end of the fall semester, which usually features Christmas music and classic repertoire. The other takes place at the end of the spring semester. These performances are a fun time for students to meet one another and showcase their accomplishments. Students are strongly encouraged to participate, although it is not required.

Where: Delhi Hills Baptist Church sanctuary

All homeschool classes are taught at Delhi Hills Baptist Church. The address is 5421 Foley Road, Cincinnati, Ohio. Private lessons are taught at the home of Melissa Surman in Delhi. The address is given once a lesson time is assigned.
